Firefox is Hot

Firefox is a very useful tool for anyone who does online marketing. You can do alot of things within the browser, as well as get alot of information using these plugins. Some of the things I use Firefox Addons for:

  • Post directly to Twitter from twitterfox
  • Write blog posts
  • Do Competitive research (learn how many pages a site has, how many visitors a website has, and more)

The List of Essential Firefox Plugins:

  1. Search Status - This plugin puts a little icon on the bottom of your browser that allows you to see the monthly visitors, how many are indexed by the different search engines, and a one-click link to the whois index. This is one of my most used plugins
  2. Scribefire - Scribefire allows you to create your post in the browser, and just copy and paste text from other websites. This is an amazing tool for anyone that wants to speed up the blog writing process. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have all of the functionality that my wordpress browser has, so it doesn’t get used all that much.
  3. PHP Proxy - Proxies are useful for hiding your IP address from websites you visit. There are 5 to 6 different Firefox addons that allow you to easily change the IP address on your site. I haven’t found one that I am truly happy with yet - but PHP Proxy is a good start. Here’s a list of Firefox Proxies.
  4. WASP - Officially a “Web Analysts” firefox extentsion - this plugin lets you see what analytics tool each website is using, as well as what type of ad networks are on a site. It also allows you to scan different sites and pull out all of the information for each of those sites.
  5. TwitterFox - Twitterfox is probably the most popular twitter addon for Firefox. It allows you to post to Twitter from Firefox directly… Enough said!
  6. SEO for Firefox- This is a great tool, it allows you to look at the search engine results on a page, and see alot of information about each of the domains. Just be careful to browse with the tool off, it can easily get you banned from all of the search engines if you are running with it on all of the time.
  7. SEOQuake - Similar to SEO for Firefox (but a bit more advanced), SEO Quake allows you to see alot of different information about the websites you are visiting, as well as download it all into a text file.
  8. FireFTP - This tool has been a godsend. Instead of having to open up a new FTP program, I just open FireFTP in a new window and upload / download whatever I need. It’s been a having a little bug with a couple of my sites recently… but otherwise it’s a great tool.
  9. Firebug - Firebug allows you to look at the code on any website, as well as play around with it to see the differences.

Here are a couple more people that have published their own Firefox Plugin List:

Ann Smarty’s Search Engine Journal Post (The 9 plugins she uses, and how often with screen captures)

Vanessa Fox’s List of Firefox Plugins

Carolyn Shelby’s List of Firefox Plugins

SEOpen’s List of 17 Firefox Plugins - there are some on here that look really cool. Adding thumbnails to search results, allowing you to click and submit information in web forms (great for directory submissions) and a couple of other ones.

StumbleUpon It!
