So I’ve been inducted to the cause of Broadcasting Ben Mack’s Interview with Paulie Sabol (There will be a link to the interview here in a couple of hours) tonight. This is a continuation of my blog post about social media marketing - and getting someone’s attention by blogging about them.

Our goal here is to have Paulie Sabol’s Google Alerts get hit with a bunch of links about this interview. So why am I manipulating the use of your precious time just to do an “ego thing” of pinging someone’s google alerts? Doesn’t this devalue the value of my blog posts, and thus opinions - kind of the John Chow is bad for blogging theory (using the status of my blog to get “personal gain”)?

The truth is, if this wasn’t valuable content - you’d be right, however, not only are you going to be able to listen to a great interview between Ben and Paulie (link to be there soon), You’re also going to be able to learn a little more about them two. So tonight I’m going to (re)introduce you to two amazing people online. Paulie Sabol and Ben Mack…

1) Paulie Sabol - I met Paulie once at a conference that he and Donna Fox put on about marketing to women. It was an eye opener in terms of my business, what I could improve.

One of the things that sticks in my mind about him was our first conversation. I introduced myself to him, and he asked me, “so, what do you do?”

I responded to him that I “expand small business owners marketing concepts online.”

To which he responded, “I blow people’s mind away for a living!“.

I personally enjoyed the fact that I had to make Paulie take his own “brand” and express it even stronger (I have this scary ability to read people and mimic their thoughts perfectly before they even say it), it was really nice to see someone who cares to sincerely about others.

2) Ben Mack, as you might know, if you’ve read some of my past columns has an incredible background in branding / direct marketing, something few are qualified to do. He has put on the conference call with Paulie tonight (the replay is now available) about how he used ‘Google Alerts’ to jump into conversations all around the web about a topic he promoted a site on, and he got 300,00 visitors there over a 7 month period. (To give you perspective, that’s over 40,000 unique visitors a month. Lead Gen Sites I’ve worked have gotten around 15,000 unique hits, and generate app. $7 Mil. a year in sales).
